Why did you choose to do an internship in Kosan Crisplant?

I heard a lot of great things about the company from one of the employees, an acquaintance of mine, who was always talking about exciting business trips to exotic countries and how happy he was to work for the company. In addition to this I thought that Kosan Crisplant was a very interesting company for a culture and international communication enthusiast such as me because of its highly international structure with subsidiaries and customers all over the world.

What has been your primary role in the company during your internship?

I have been assigned to Group Human Resources where my primary role was to investigate the present HR processes and procedures in the company's foreign subsidiaries. Based on this we could assess whether it would be feasible to establish global HR guidelines for the whole company. I also had the opportunity to take part in many exciting HR related tasks such as recruitment, cross-cultural training and writing articles for the international staff magazine.

What has been the best part in your internship?

One of the advantages of being an intern in Group HR is the opportunities it creates in terms of working with people from all parts of the company. The collaboration with management and my colleagues both at headquarters and at the subsidiaries abroad has given me a very in-depth understanding of what makes a project and engineering company such as Kosan Crisplant tick. Overall, I think the people I met and the way you become such an integrated part of the company are what has made my internship so great.

What has been the greatest challenge?

When I first came to Kosan Crisplant, the gas industry was totally unknown territory to me. I had no idea what they were talking about and I could hardly explain what the company's business was actually about. It has, however, been a great challenge to learn more about something so unlike anything I normally deal with, and I now see myself becoming strangely excited when I see a gas truck or a cylinder with the name Kosan on it.

Can you describe the culture in KC with only three words?

The first words that come to mind are respect, trust and humour. In Kosan Crisplant there is a sense of everyone respecting each other's cultural and individual differences. Moreover, all employees' opinion are valued and respected, which means that you really feel that your work and input matters. There is also a great sense of trust in the employees which is expressed through freedom to make your own decisions and to take responsibility for your own tasks.

And last, Kosan Crisplant is just a very fun place to work because of the informal tone among employees in the company. Sharing a joke or a laugh is therefore a great and very easy way to connect with your fellow colleagues.
