Decades of mutual success

On the occasion of us launching the new MAKEEN Energy Newsletter in 2017, we found it appropriate to stop for a minute and thank some of our customers with whom our cooperation goes back many, many years. Long, fruitful business relations such as these are hard to come by, and we cherish them deeply. So to all of our customers and partners who continue to stand by us, we say thank you and look forward to many more exciting projects.

YPFB, Bolivia, Kosan Crisplant

YPFB: The Bolivian Bond

In 1985, Kosan Crisplant - simply called Crisplant at the time - was hired by Bolivia's state-owned energy company YPFB to deliver equipment to new filling plants all over Bolivia. YPFB was impressed with the execution of the task. This was the beginning of a business relationship that has since developed and grown into something quite special, and YPFB has shown time and time again that they trust Kosan Crisplant to deliver the right solution in a professional manner.

In 2010, three of the country's major filling plants were due for an update, and YPFB again chose Kosan Crisplant to evaluate the plants and bring them into the 21st century. A few years later, in 2013, Kosan Crisplant delivered another three brand new filling plants, including the world's first FLEXSPEED for side-entry valves. Then, in 2015, the relationship jumped to another level with an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract to revamp eight filling plants spread across eight different places in Bolivia.

Our two companies' close relationship is still going strong. Recently, Kosan Crisplant was contacted by YPFB again to overhaul no less than 27 Bolivian filling plants with state-of-the-art equipment and technology over the next years. A project of this magnitude is a testament to the amount of mutual trust and respect that characterizes the history of Kosan Crisplant and YPFB.

With the evolution of export of LPG to neighbouring countries around Bolivia, Kosan Crisplant also works closely with YPFB to find a solution to upgrade their loading bay system in Senkata.  After a great partnership we signed another EPC contract to make these loading bays a reality and help YPFB grow the LPG business in this important area of Bolivia.

Filling carrousel at Drachen-Propangas, Frankfurt

Drachen-Propangas: Relations and machinery still going strong

How many fillers can say that they still use the same carrousel that they installed over 60 years ago? In Frankfurt, Germany we know of one. Drachen-Propangas' filling carrousel was supplied by Kosan Crisplant in 1954, and it is still among the largest carrousels in Germany. More impressively, however, is that all equipment, from carrousel to conveyor system, still works perfectly. How is this possible? It all comes to the careful maintenance by Drachen-Propangas with the help of Kosan Crisplant's service staff and spare parts.

Our service staff has helped Drachen-Propangas to keep their equipment running for longer than was initially expected, thanks to meticulous record-keeping and support. In 2010, when the central column of the carrousel began leaking gas, Kosan Crisplant was able to procure the old drawings and spare parts needed to disassemble the column and replace worn parts, allowing the carrousel to carry on as it had for the past 56 years.

Drachen-Propangas has proven that even though new, cutting-edge equipment is nice, it is not always the right solution. With proper care and management, older machines can continue to perform up to standard for many, many years. We look forward to helping Drachen-Propangas get the most out of their machinery for a long time to come.
